At our architecture firm, we prioritise sustainable design solutions that not only benefit the environment, but also provide long-term financial benefits for our clients.
By integrating energy-efficient features, utilising eco-friendly materials, and optimising site orientation, we create buildings that are not only environmentally responsible, but also reduce operating costs over time.
Every project is unique. Each requires a different approach when it comes to how a project should be considered, designed and managed. Trust us to deliver a bespoke design that is truly tailored to you.
Our team of experienced architects works closely with you to understand your vision, goals, and budget and then customise our designs to meet your specific requirements. With a focus on attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship, we strive to create spaces that not only meet your functional needs but also reflect your individual style and personality.
Our architects bring their knowledge, skills, and creativity to the table, while our clients provide their valuable input and feedback. This collaborative approach ensures that we create designs that are not only functional and visually stunning but also meet our clients' specific needs and preferences. At our architectural company, we believe that collaboration is the key to delivering exceptional results that exceed expectations.
Our team of creative architects combines innovative thinking with practical experience to deliver solutions that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We understand that design is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and we take the time to analyse each project in detail, taking into account the unique context and requirements of the site.
Grampian 'Sand'
Sandstone cladding
from SAI Stone.
Blackbutt timber cladding from Mortlock Timber.
White polished concrete.
Due to the large size of the corner block but close proximity to the road, it was important to provide physical and acoustic separation while still ensuring a visual connection to the expansive and useable yard space. The house was sited along a contour that snaked through the middle of the site. This allowed the structure to work with the site's slope, maximise the outlook to the yard and treeline beyond and was orientated north to draw in much needed sunlight throughout the day.
Austral homestead bricks.
Scyon Linea weatherboard. Colorbond Trimdek.
UPVC windows.
Easycraft VJ lining.
Stuv double-sided fireplace.
Tesrol joinery panels. Caesarstone benchtops.
The whole house was renovated to provide better flow and connection to the spaces within, while engaging with the external gardens and landscape. The style did reflect a more traditional approach with an English twist, having a black and white colour palette, painted brick, gable ends and glazing bars to the UPVC windows. The crowning jewel of the project, that instigated the renovation, is the 'room of reasoning' - a dark and moody room dedicated to separation and reflection.
Quantum Quartz cladding.
Colorbond Longline.
James Hardie Easylap.
Spotted Gum soffit and decking.
The site posed a challenge being quite steep and in a bushfire prone area. The decision was to work with the site and tier down the slope, which created separation of public and private zones, as well as provide views from all rooms to the Tamar River beyond. Another challenge was designing the facades using cladding that had been pre-purchased. This cladding was man-made quartz that was suitable for external applications as well as benchtops.
Curved glass window.
Steel substructure.
Though facing east had a magnificent view of the ocean, the existing deck area was insufficient and became shaded over the course of the day. Because the existing substructure of the deck was steel, it became useful to cantilever sections of new steel to enlarge the floor space. The addition of glass as the only external material accentuated and enhanced the view. The crowning detail was the curved corner glass that created a dynamic shape and a seamless view. With an operable roof that enclosed the space yet allowed sun penetration and ceiling mounted heaters, the space became an all-season space.
"We decided to build our dream house according to our requirements . We are delighted with what Starbox Architecture have done for us. We had many challenges eg. getting the products and managing the cost during the covid crisis period.
Their responses to my queries were so prompt.
They would not hesitate to come and check the products with us, sometimes spend Saturdays in the office discussing certain issues.
We are very happy with the final outcome. The ultimate product is not second to anything. Thanks Starbox Architecture.”
T Herath - Owner, THE CHAR HOUSE

“We engaged Starbox Architecture to help with a major renovation of our family home. Being from the UK and having rather eccentric tastes we were looking for someone who would help work with us and our ideas.
They far exceeded our expectations and came up with a plan that was better than we could have hoped for incorporating a modern feel but with character, and being sympathetic to our taste.
A huge bonus from working with Starbox Architecture was having Jaron as our project manager. He kept all the minor annoyances and irritations of a renovation project off our plate, leaving us the time and space to make the major decisions.
Always available and contactable he was a pleasure to work with, and would recommend to anyone.”
Greg and Holly - Owner, THE ENGLISH
"We undertook a residential development with Starbox Architecture in 2017. Whilst the original concept met our design brief we needed to undertake some budgetary compromises to achieve our costing objectives. Starbox Architecture worked both professionally and cooperatively with us to deliver a great outcome and a home that met our expectations."
G Lynd - Owner, THE SHARD
At Starbox Architecture - we humanise spaces. We are driven by the brief, site location, local elements and human value. We believe that working collaboratively alongside clients and consultants with effective communication ensures that the brief is ultimately addressed and realised. Our designs are individual, site specific and client-driven with character, purpose and individuality that are intimately connected to the client.
We respond to the context of the site dynamically in a relevant and appropriate manner to create a built form that is physically beautiful and enriches the lives of its occupants pragmatically and aesthetically. We are always conscious of passive environmentally sustainable design principles which include consideration of the material palette and the manner in which the building elements are connected to the surrounding environment. We are a multi-disciplinary practice that has delivered many projects of varying diversity, scale and complexity and has proven capability in both design and delivery.
